About

The first event in a chain of many coincidences happened when Yulia was 6 and a doctor recommended to her parents that she should try horseback riding for treating her developing scoliosis. Shortly thereafter, Yulia was riding 7 days a week, she went to her first show jumping competition at the age of 7, and represented Russia at her first international children's tournament at the age of 10. During the next 10 years, Yulia kept training horses under the leadership of the best Russian trainers and Equine professionals.

In the meantime, she graduated from the All Russian Agricultural University with a diploma in horse breeding and from the Equine Research University with a diploma in training horses and horseback riders. Later on, she completed a PhD program in the physiology of horse training.

In 2009, Yulia began travelling the world to look for opportunities for developing her talents. She was lucky enough to spend many months training in the same arena with the Olympic Gold Champion Will Simpson.

In 2011, Yulia spent 7 months in Madrid, Spain, receiving a priceless experience working with one of the best Spanish dressage maestros, José Julián Cancela Estévez.

For three years, 2012-2014, Yulia lived in Eastern Europe where she was organizing chains of Show Jumping World Cup and Nations Cup tournaments in Slovenia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Belorussia and Russia, in collaboration with the National Equestrian Federations of all the listed countries and FEI.

In 2014, Yulia moved to Los Angeles, California, and established “YB Horse Training” to provide a variety of equestrian-related services (please refer to the “services” page for more details).

Since 2020, Yulia has lived in the bay area, teaching and training horses at Trillium Farm in Portola Valley.  It has been a wonderful journey of working with amazing horses and people in the United States, which you can read in her testimonials page. Feel free to contact Yulia with any questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment.
